Jersey Girl

I think in some by-laws in the state of New Jersey it says that in life you must do two things.

1. See Bruce Springsteen in concert
2. See Bon Jovi in concert

I already accomplished #1 many years ago when we lived in Jacksonville, FL and #2 is being taken care of this Sunday!

Seeing Bruce Springsteen was an absolute fluke. I had no idea he was coming to town and I got the tickets about two hours before the show. I basically sat on my computer and kept hitting refresh until I got tickets. We actually scored floor seats - well floor standing room. Best concert!

When I was probably a teenager, my friend Andrea asked me to go see Bon Jovi. Her sister was going and she asked me to go. I was beyond excited until my father told me I could not go. WHAT, WHAT - I can't go see Bon Jovi in the Meadowlands because an adult was not going - so UNFAIR!

Who knew they would be around this long and it would take me another 20 years to see them (that made me feel really old).

I almost was not able to get tickets to see them. I went online for a month to try and get them but nothing but behind the stage. Then one day I went online and they told me I could not get them online any more so I had to call Ticketmaster. Calling Ticketmaster is an event in itself....but after about 45 mins I scored my tickets.

We might be up in the nose bleed but this Jersey Girl is going to see Bon Jovi!

The passion is gone

My passion for clothing that is.

If you know me, you know that I love to shop. I love cute clothes, I love cute shoes, Nordstrom Rack was a weekly stop for me. Now, I just don't care.

Maybe because I am over wearing bulky sweaters and Uggs this season. Don't get me wrong, I love my ugly Uggs but if I have to put them on one more day, I might cry. Or maybe it is the fact that I don't get dressed up for work. There is no distinction between  work and play clothes anymore, they are all mostly play clothes. This consists of jeans, a random top and pretty boring shoes.

This past weekend we went to the Outlets. You know what I bought, a Thomas the Tank Engine and a Superman t-shirt for Henry. I walked into Banana and nothing, even caught my eye. I always buy something in Banana! GAP - nope nada. They even have a Joe's Jeans and True Religion store, didn't even bother going in. At one time, my eyes would have lit up like I had hit the jackpot but not anymore.

This break up is very hard on me and I really hope the passion comes back so we can be reunited again! C'mon cute Spring and Summer clothes - bring me back!

Paint, Paint and more Paint

I know I have not been on here in awhile and we have been pretty busy! We had Valentine's Day on Monday and for my gift Charlie hired a painter. My head was spinning with ideas and colors. Charlie told me they would be painting our master bedroom, master bath, family room and kitchen. Little did I know I had one week to have this all picked out!!!

Charlie called me yesterday and told me the painters were coming today!!! I had the bedroom color picked out and I was pretty sure about the kitchen and family room. The master bathroom was a whole other story.

Here is the color we picked for master bedroom:

The color is called Portage from Benjamin Moore's C2 collection. I had Home Depot match it. It actually comes off a little more sage green then it does in the picture.

This is our bedding and my curtains are gold so I hope this works. I'm usually not a blue green girl but I went outside my own box here.

Now the master bathroom, this was fun since I wasn't really sure what I wanted. I went with a grey green and a darker color. I am keeping every finger crossed that the bedroom and the bathroom are going to mesh together well.

The color is Pumpkinseed by Martha Stewart:

The family room and kitchen/mudd room are all being painted the same color since they all flow together. That color is Tobacco by Martha Stewart.

I'm hoping it does not turn out as pink as it looks in this picture so we shall see.

I'm really excited about painting everything. I can't wait to see how it all comes out and hopefully I will be happy with everything!

Customer Service - Why is it so hard?

Why oh why do I have to keep calling people to get things delivered or to fix problems.

I still don't have my Kindle, after three days of calling. I was told yesterday that it would arrive between the time I called and 8pm - tick tock, tick tock - no Kindle.

Amazon told me they can overnight me another one on the 16th - yes two weeks after I ordered it. They apparently don't seem too concerned about the missing Kindle.

I'm now on the phone for the 4th time with the shipping company trying to track it down because no one else seems capable of doing that. I've been on hold for almost 10 minutes. At this point, I just assume they hate me and will never deliver the Kindle.

Now we move on to my couch cushions. We got the couch in the middle of January and the back cushions were wrong. I mean really wrong. I called the store and they said, I needed to send pictures, so I did. They then proceeded to tell me I can have new cushions but I will have to wait because they cannot be sent quickly - wonderful - wrong couch, wrong cushions, more wait.

The cushions are suppose to arrive today. I was also told that they would personally be brought to my house by the owner. The owner called, "Ummm, I'm the only one in the store so I can't bring them to you." I guess the owner has never heard of after hours?? Mind you the store is only open from 12-3 - she must be slammed before noon and just too busy to take care of a customer after 3pm.

So guess what, I now am going to get the cushions on my lunch break just so I can be done with this store.

The store is based on word of mouth, I don't think my mouth will be telling anyone to use them.

Ramblings

I had McDonald's coffee this morning so I am a bit wired.

1. I decided I need ONE shopping center that can house all my needs. I need a Target, a grocery store, a Michaels, a Home Goods, a Total Wine and maybe a TJ Maxx. This way I can go to one place and not have to drive to several.

2. Never open syrup at McDonald's with a 2 year old. Before I could stop him he dumped it on the table. Then proceeded to put his hands in it. Have you seen Christmas Vacation? You know after they get the tree they lye in bed and his hands get stuck to the magazine and her hair. Yes, that happened this morning. I now have syrup in my hair. I cleaned him up as best I could but apparently there was "A lot of sap".

3. What should my first Kindle book be??? I like to read crap so instead of some good author I will probably read Storitelling by Tori Spelling or Sugar and Spice by Lauren Conrad. Hey, they were on the Best Seller list!

4. Super Bowl weekend - woo hooo! Crack Dip and Beer Dip and all kinds of bad goodies to eat - can't wait! We even taught Henry to say "GO PACK GO!"

5. I think my kid would rather be naked. This morning not only did we lose power, I walked in to a diaper that exploded and a kid that was soaking wet. I then tried to change him and get him dressed. He preferred just his diaper and was running around the house.

6. I made Valentine's dinner reservations for the 13th. We are going to Morton's and my mouth is already watering! That is my gift to Charlie for VDay.

7. I have been through five sets of curtains for our bedroom and it still looks like crap. Charlie has vowed to wow me tomorrow with new rods and says he is going to make it happen. I love this man for telling me that. He also promised he would help me with my wall - by help he means sit on the couch and tell me he does or does not like it.

8. Happy Friday!!!!!!!!!!!

How do they do it?

I want to know how Pottery Barn decoraters achieve this.......

Not that I want a Bingo theme in my family room but I have a huge wall and I want to cluster hang.

I heaeded out to Home Goods (yes, again and I will also be headed there on Friday bc a friend of mine has never been there, the horror!) on my mission. I bought a big clock for the center, a few mirrors, and some brown metal olive branches. At home I have the "N" that always hung at Charlie's grandparents house to also use.

I'm very excited about all my purchases, so when I got home I laid everything out on the floor.  I still had high hopes at this time, because I have tried and failed miserably before. Well, I failed again...it looked like the wall threw up!

I don't get it. I bought different sizes, kept it in the round family, and tried to cluster. The Pottery Barn visioin was in my head, now I need to figure out how to get it on my wall.

If anyone knows of a blog or has pictures, let me see so I can soak up more because I am not giving up this time!
