17 week bump pic

Today is 17 weeks and 4 days or something like that. I guess I really don't look too pregnant. At daycare yesterday, I said something about the new baby coming and they were all like you're pregnant?

Then at dinner last night, I was waiting for a friend and the waitress asked if I wanted some wine or beer while I was waiting. I just looked at her and said " I wish, but I am pregnant". Then she apologized and said she couldn't tell. GREAT - so I just look like a big fluff ball.

So without further adieu.....

I guess there is a bump but maybe it is just my pregnancy eyes playing tricks on me.

A Jumble of a Post

So, I forgot on Friday to update the size of the baby. This week the baby is a size of an onion. I can feel the baby moving inside but still not from the outside. I love feeling those fizzy bubbles moving inside of me.

This past weekend we lived through hurricane Irene. It wasn't too bad at our house and apparently I slept through most of it. My parents ended up staying until Sunday morning because of the storm and I think Henry was pretty happy about that!

We also got the crib half put together, we lost some screws in the move so the front of the crib is not connected. Charlie also painted our powder room this past weekend and I love it! We did a dark brown with pale blue, white and green accents.

So here we are at Monday, busy week, but I made it that way on purpose ;) Tonight dinner with a friend, Wednesday morning doc appt then that night over to another friend's house, Thursday Charlie's mom comes into town and college football starts and then FRIDAY WE FOUND OUT BOY/GIRL!!!

I say girl, Charlie says boy, Henry just really wants a baby brother so we shall see. We told Henry our name choices and it is so cute to hear him say what we have selected. Can't tell you yet, you will just have to wait until next week.

Wish me luck this week - I hope I can make it!

Charlie the TV Remote Bully

I'm living with a tv remote bully and I bet I am not the only one.

Let's take last night as an example.....Charlie is putting Henry to bed so I am watching the weather channel and a show on cnn or something about supermarkets. Here I am very happy flipping back to both of these stations. In comes Charlie, "What are you watching?" and I tell him. He makes some huffing noise. He tells me you know football is on, I told him I knew but I can't bear to watch Jay Cutler, he makes me mad, but I turn it on.

From there I go back to my other two shows and I keep hear little sighs from the other end of the couch. Mind you, he has the laptop and is reading whatever the heck he reads on there so I don't understand why this is bothering him.

Then I lay the remote down, stupid mistake, stupid mistake he picks it up and I know my night is over! He then starts changing the channel and watching random movies that are half started. Then in the ultimate bully move, he puts on the movie Outbreak and THEN tells me he is doing a mock draft for football - WHAT!!!! You get to watch a movie and use the laptop, how is this even fair?

I know we have other tv's in our house, but sometimes I don't feel like moving to another room when I am already comfy on the couch. I don't understand why it is ok for me to have to watch all his crap but he can't suffer through my crappy shows. At least my shows we have not seen before, all of his are repeats or movies we have seen 100 times.

I'm hoping in the Fall when new shows are coming on, this bullying will stop. I'm a pretty reasonable person, I'll watch most sports and most crappy movies but there are times I just want to watch my own crap.

Ultrasound was MOVED!

So excited because our ultrasound to find out the sex of the baby was moved to Sept 2nd!

The original appointment was Sept 7th but some things changed in our schedule so I called and they said they could take me on the 2nd. We will find out early that morning, but I probably won't post until later that weekend.

We really want to tell Charlie's grandparents in person and since we are going up there that weekend, we will get to do that now! Not only will be get to tell his grandparents in person but also a lot more of his family!

The countdown is on now!

Ticker Change and Baby Bedding

Today, I have entered into week 16! Only two more weeks until we find out. This week the baby is the size of an avocado.

Eyebrows, lashes and hair are filling in and taste buds are forming. The baby can also pick up our voices. I'm always talking to the baby, he/she is probably already blocking me out.

I have started my search for bedding. Last time I saw one and I knew that it was the one I wanted to use for a boy. I was never able to find a girl one I liked and in the end that didn't matter. This time, it has been a lot harder! I think I have narrowed it down to these two.

I really want to paint the walls grey and I think that will look good with both of these. The changing table will then be painted to match - yellow for a girl and a green or blue if it is a boy. Our furniture is white and I think these both will look really good with white furniture.

I haven't come across anything else that really knocks my socks off and if I do see something else, I always go back to these two. Time will tell which one we get!

So maybe I'm crazy.....

Charlie would definitely agree with that statement and I am starting to think that I am.

Yesterday, I went in the fridge and found garlic powder, ummm yeah that does not go in there. The other day I searched the house for my keys, they were in my pocket. I did laundry the other night and was washing Henry's stuff from daycare, instead of taking the wet swim clothes out of the plastic bag, I threw the whole bag right into the washer and washed it that way. Pretty surprised the bag did not break into 100 pieces.

The ultimate craziness is that I have found Henry's Halloween costume. Yes, it is August 17th and I am aware that Halloween is over two months away, but I have a coupon. Maybe, it will be sold out if I wait longer, or maybe I won't get another coupon, these things DO happen. I haven't purchased it yet, but it is sitting in my shopping cart waiting to be purchased.

How can I pass on this costume:

I mean, how cute is he going to look in this??!!??? He even knows the JAWS music and his go to movie is Shark Tales, could this be anymore perfect? Plus, this will probably be the last year, I will be able to get him to wear something like this.

Now, I  just have to convince myself and Charlie that I am not totally crazy to buy this in August.

Ticker Change Friday!

15 weeks today - whoa! This week the baby is the size of a naval orange.

Baby's legs are finally bigger then it's arms and all four limbs have functional joints. Baby is squirming all around and yes I can feel the baby move. I know what it feels like this time so there are times I know the baby is saying Hi! You can't feel it from the outside, but I can!!!

On my mom's board someone asked the second time mom's if things were different this time around. When I thought about it, I realized that at this time last time, we had the room half painted, the chair rail was in, the furniture was ordered and I had an idea of bedding. This time not so much.

Last night I just had Charlie dig out the crib mattress because I didn't want to have it in the basement anymore. I asked for the crib to come up, but he kind of just looked at me. Needless to say the crib is still in the basement. We did find the car seat carrier and one of the bases.

I guess I probably should get into gear a little bit. Maybe look at some paint choices, decide what we might need this time around and get the baby's room a little more organized. There is a coffee table sitting in the room right now along with an air mattress.

I know we have plenty of time but I am just so much more laid back this time, which is a little surprising to me!

New Look over Here

The blog got a little update from the one and only Becca over at Jumping Jax Designs.

She does amazing work not only on blogs but also on Holiday cards, Birthday Invites and Birth Announcements. I think I have ordered everything but birth announcements from her, but that will change next year.  Right now she is on maternity leave, but she will be back soon!

I have to give credit for my header picture to Kim Graham. She was our wedding photographer and she took some pictures for us last year and then this past July we had some family pictures taken by her. She is also AMAZING! If you are in the Charleston, SC area - check her out, you will not be disappointed.

Hope you enjoy the new look, as much as I do!

Ask Henry.....

Ask Henry, if he wants a "baby brother" or a "baby sister"....his answer 9 times out of 10 is baby brother. I think once he said, baby sister.

Ask Henry, where the baby is, he points to the freckle on my stomach. I really think, he thinks the baby is that freckel. He will even kiss it.

Ask Henry, what he wants for dinner, hot dog is the answer, every night.

Ask Henry, what books he wants to read...Green Eggs, Book with cars on it (Go Dog Go) and the train book. Rinse and repeat every night.

Ask Henry, if he wants to go to bed....When the sun sets, is what he tells you. You can only go to bed when it is dark out, is another answer.

Ask Henry about football.....GO GAMECOCKS! We bought him a Redskin jersey and he thought it was a Gamecock one.

Ask Henry where something is..."It MIGHT be in the car or in my playroom" is his go to answer.

Ask Henry if he wants to go to the potty...."No, Thank you." He has four months to change this answer.

Ask Henry where he lives, "WINDFLOWER!" - for some reason he screams this response.

Ask Henry his last name, "Nard ye yellow" - I have to give him credit for this one because he says it better then most people.

Everyday is full of new answers when you ask him something!

14 Weeks and a Conversation about Santa

Today marks 14 weeks of this pregnancy. I have to say it is going by pretty quickly and with minimal discomfort so far.  I think this weekend, I am going to have to break down and get some maternity work pants and a pair of jeans. I'm pretty good on tops but the pants are just not really working.

The baby this week is the size of a lemon - growing, growing, growing! Right now, Baby N2 can suck his/her thumb and wiggle their toes.

Now onto Henry. The other day, he found his Christmas pop up book that I think we read from November to January last year. He was all about what was in the book. So, I started telling him about how Santa comes down the chimney and out the fireplace. His face was priceless....he turned looked at the fireplace and then looked at me, then looked back at the fireplace. Then I told him that Santa brings the good presents and that Nana and Grandfy would be here. I told him that we will make a list and send that to Santa when it is time. I also explained that Christmas is a long way away. He seemed pretty satisfied with our conversation.

Charlie walks in the door from work and Henry just runs up to him and says "We have to go into my playroom and make a list". Charlie is a little confused. Henry then went on to say we need presents and we have to make a list. I'm personally laughing. I tell Charlie that he is asking him to make a list for Santa. Charlie looks at me and says "Only you, would be making lists this early." He does have a point.

Fast forward to yesterday afternoon. I go and pick Henry up from school and when I get there, he says, "We have to go home, Grandfy is there, we need to open presents." OOOOPS - I explain to him that Grandfy is not at our house and Christmas is awhile away. So, we get home he looks at the fireplace and he says Santa.....I say Henry he is watching you. He looks at me, I said yes, he watches all the little boys and girls so when it is Christmas he can bring them gifts. About every minutes last night, Henry kept telling me that Santa was watching him.

I decide to use this at bedtime in my favor. We still have our bad nights of putting Henry to bed so, after books, I laid with him for a few minutes, got up and told him he had to stay in his bed because Santa was watching him. NOT ONE PEEP CAME FROM HIS ROOM!!!!!!!

We will see how long this lasts but certainly going to use this until Christmas if we will allow me!

The Big Appointment

Went to the doctor this morning and everything was great. Baby N2 was beating around 156 or so. I did gain a little more weight then I wanted to, so I guess those sour patch kids were a bad idea, but they were so good!

The doctor did give me my orders to schedule my Anatomy scan - squeeeeeeeeee! I was hoping they would let me go on September 2nd before our trip to Albany but they said they would rather wait until the next week, boooooooo!

The appt is scheduled for Sept 7th at 9:15am. Gives us enough time to get Henry to school and get over there. We are also excited because Charlie's mom will still be here and she will get to come with us!!!!! Her flight leaves later that evening so it all worked out perfectly.

If you want to take a guess of what we are having there is a poll set up on the left side of the blog. Happy Guessing!

Green Eggs and Ham....

"Do you like, Green Eggs and Ham?" "I do not like them, Sam I am, I do not like, Green Eggs and Ham."

Henry is insistent on reading this book every night. Charlie got him started on it and I have been avoiding it but last night I was trapped and had to read it. I have nothing against it, I just like to read other books, shorter ones.

Personally, I think you should do mouth exercises before reading this and also have a glass of water ready for you. I was parched by the time I was done and my jaw hurt!

Try reading this, after you have already read other lines from the book.....

"I could not, would not, on a boat.

I will not, will not, with a goat.
I will not eat them in the rain.
I will not eat them on a train.
Not in the dark! Not in a tree!
Not in a car! You let me be!
I do not like them in a box.
I do not like them with a fox.
I will not eat them in a house.
I do not like them with a mouse.
I do not like them here or there.
I do not like them ANYWHERE!"

How does your mouth feel? This is one of the later pages in the book so we have probably already read two or three pages like this prior!

I do have to say, there is some good to this book. We now use it to get Henry to try new foods. When he starts to refuse something, Charlie will start spouting off lines from the end of the book, you know where he tries the green eggs and ham. Henry will then give the new food a once over and take a bite.  Sometimes we have success with the new food, other times he spits it back out.

Just like the book you gotta give everything a try........
