Sneak Peak....Jenny Lind

We are 24 days out and projects have begun.

First up, Mary's new bed. Never paint a bed in 96 degree heat in the middle of a driveway. With that being said, I'm loving the first coat.

Sneak peak.....

Antiquing

Today we drove out to Lucketts and hit up some antique stores. I went yesterday with Mary but someone, only wanted to sit on her potty the entire time so I wasn't able to really look around.

I've been looking for nightstands for the master bedroom. I didn't want brown ones but something a little different and they had to match. I've done the mismatch and I didn't like it. Now, trying to find pairs of anything in antique stores is near impossible but I was pleasantly surprised when I did and I was in love.

Exactly what I was looking for and the right height. Even Charlie really liked them (always a bonus). So, we went back today to buy them. I just kept hoping they were still there and they were. We loaded them up and headed to the next store.

Henry was about to rip his eyes out from boredom but he hung in there and thankfully he did, because I scored this next.

In the last house I was looking for one of these for the dining room but could never find a good price. This one has to be rewired but that won't be a problem,  at least we hope not.

I also picked up some fleur-de-lis thick hooks for the mudroom, to hang coats on. They had a great selection and they were less expensive then ones I had originally picked out.

I'm pretty excited about all my finds and have started the three week count down to the new house. Will definitely be hitting up these stores again.

Designing in my Head

People have been asking me if I have started decorating the house. Well, I have, but in my head. I can describe the living room, the gallery wall, and the mud room. These are all new spaces for us so I am having fun envisioning the rooms. You should see how mad I get when I go to HomeGoods and they don't have what I want, don't they know it's in my head and I want it.

I have purchased some items from visions and I can see them working out nicely. Here are the chairs and rug I purchased for the living room.

The walls will be a grey color so I think these will look amazing next to it. I bought two chairs to flank each end of the carpet. I am thinking I will place our old buffet in the room and I want a coffee table. I know the table I want and I will find it, because it will be perfect.

I have been getting pictures printed and I will be taking our old photos and some canvas for the gallery wall. I'm on the hunt for some non picture items that will look cool. Again, the whole wall layout is in my head. Yeah, Charlie really loves the way I do things.....

As for the mudroom. I have two blank walls that I am dying to decorate. I'm on the hunt for a bench for one of the walls and above it, we each will have individual hooks with wood initials over the hooks. I found some cool letters down at my moms. I also found these two items at Tuesday morning. They will go on my big family command center wall.

I'm pretty sure this wall will hang kids artwork, our mail station and have other fun items on it.

People might be thinking, are you nuts, you haven't even moved in yet, but you know, I know what I want. This is how I design rooms. A lot of the other rooms will be furniture from the old house. The master will probably look identical because I took a lot of time in the old house to make it the way I wanted. Maybe change up the room color but for the most part all the same. The kids rooms will have some updates and I will post on those soon. The family room, well, I don't know yet. That room is stumping me. I know we will use a lot of our old stuff that isn't that old but I also know I want to add end tables and new mantle decor.

So for now, I will keep dreaming of the rooms and designing in my head because I think I might have reached my budget limit with Charlie. He has told me no more until we get there. I agree, but I am glad I was able to get some of these out of my head and into storage.

One month from today......

One month from today we are suppose to close on the house. It cannot come soon enough. I'm really hoping we hit that date because we all need our stuff back and we need a place to roam.

While I was gone last week, they really cranked out things at the house. We are happy and very very excited to see what was done.

So, as you can see we have some floor, lights are all in and the fireplace is all done. We also have appliances except for a fridge.

The last picture is the floor in our bathroom. We paid for it to be done on a diagonal and when they did it, it wasn't, but they fixed it and now I love it more. They are on the finishing stages and it pains me that it will be another month, but this is our forever house and how ever long it takes, it takes. I will just keep shopping ;)

We are getting so close

Back from the Beach

Monday, here you are and I'm not even working and it's hard to face you.

The beach was a blast. The kids had so much fun. We had perfect weather the whole week. The kids hit the beach, the pool, a pirate show, rode on rides and ate lots of ice cream. Perfect vacation for everyone.

I'm glad we were able to take this impromptu beach trip We all needed it and it was great to spend the week with my parents. I did get two job leads while we were there so we shall see if anything comes out of them.

A lot happened with the house too. I will post a house update soon.

Last Day

Today has come...it's the last day for Henry and Mary in daycare. I still don't have a job so we will be spending the summer together and regroup in the Fall or if something comes along sooner.

It was bittersweet driving into both their daycares today and of course I shed some tears pulling out of Mary's. I could be a blubbering mess at pick up but I can't wait to spend the summer with them.

Here is their first day.....

and here is their last day......

Mary doesn't even look like the same kid. Henry is taller but doesn't look too different, just a little older.

Looking forward to our adventures this summer  - first up.....beach trip on Monday to SC for the week. WE can't wait!

End of an Era

This week is the end of the daycare era. Five years of driving him to daycare and it will all be over on Wednesday. Our wallets are happy, but of course, I am a little sad. It's a happy sad but it means my little Bugga is growing up and going to the "red" school. I don't even know where the time went but it has been one ride.

The amount he has learned is incredible and the teachers he has had are even more incredible. I can't thank the teachers enough for all that they have taught him and all that they have put up with. You are some amazing women and again, thank you for teaching my son.

Here is a little stroll down our daycare memory lane....

2009 - he started in May at Kindercare. We loved that Infant room and Miss Sheela.

2010 - we were still in Kindercare with Miss Keisha and Miss Jen.

2011 we moved and he started at Winwood and he had Miss Karissa.

2012 he started preschool with Miss Diane and Mrs. V.  He also had Ms. Kaarin in the summer

2013 marked our last First Day. He had Miss Angela and Miss Patel.

It's been a fun ride and we have made some great friends along the way. I know he is going to thrive in school and really because of all of these great people.

I'm looking forward to Wednesday but I am sure I will be that silly mom crying at preschool. graduation. Don't worry, I will post photos!

Fun Park Friday

Two kids,  two parks in one gorgeous day.

Both parks have different sections for different age kids.  It's nice but it's hard chasing two kids.

Dinosaur park in Ashburn was first and we got there before it got crowded. Lots of different sets and very popular because it's for all different ages. The kids love the individual see saws and the fire truck. Good shade too.

Legacy park this afternoon.  Another big park and different sets for different ages.
Plus of this one tire swing.  Kids freaking love tire swings and it's funny watching them walk after.

I'm ready for a nap.

Didn't take long!

Charlie went to work a little late this morning so after dropping Henry off we headed to the house.
It was a nice surprise to see all that has happened in 24 hours.
The bathroom cabinets are in and done and they were working on the kitchen. They even started to install the banister. Even Mary was oohing and ahhhing.
Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.

House Update

The house seems to be moving along at a snail pace but I guess that is what happens when you are beyond anxious to get out of this tiny apartment. We do have walls and everything is painted, even the trim. We were at the park yesterday, so we drove by and noticed that our metal/tin roof was added. Other then that nothing is really happening. I guess we are waiting on cabinets and what not. I really hope they come soon.

We emailed asking yesterday about a closing date because all we seem to get is, July. Well hey that is four weeks away, can we try to nail down a date that we probably won't hit but it will be better then nothing. I know I need to be patient but it's killing me.

Here is the house without the tin roof.

Charlie has allowed me to do a little shopping and I ordered a rug for the living room, some Adirondack chairs for the front porch and our washer and dryer. It's really hard not to shop and I'm trying to wait but I'm not sure how much longer that will last.

Hopefully, my next update I will be showing you cabinets and granite and things that get me even more excited about moving to the new house!
