Conversations with Henry

You just never know what they are going to say........

Me: Henry put your toys away or the Toy Sweeper will come and they will be gone.
Henry: ***Ignores Me***
Me: You need to put those toys away.
Charlie: Henry it's time to leave for school
Henry: Mom, when I get home from school you can go ahead and clean up my toys for me.
Charlie: Don't talk to your mother that way - she tells you what to do.
Henry: Why:

Me: Henry look (shows him TRU book), maybe we can ask Santa for this Leap From tablet - Leapster.
Henry: Those are for babies
Me: WHAT?
Henry: Mom, I want one of these (as he points to an ipod touch)

Me: When we go to Jacksonville on Thursday we are all going to stay in one big room.
Henry: I'm going to sleep on the floor.
Me: Ok, but you don't have to.
Henry: I'm going to sleep on the floor, you are going to sleep above me and Grandma is going to sleep in the kitchen.
Me: Henry there is no kitchen
Henry: Well then I don't know where Grandma is going to sleep
(In Disney, we stayed in a condo. Henry slept on the floor next to us and Grandma slept on a pull our couch in the family room/kitchen area).

Me: Henry, Nana and Grandfy have a box to send to us, but they are going to wait until after we get home from Jacksonville.

Henry: ORRR Mom, they could send to it "my" hotel.
Me: Um, I will let them know about your request.
Henry: Ok, tell them it's in Jacksonbille.

Henry: Dad I can't like this game because the Redskins aren't playing (as we are watching Monday Night Football).
Me/Charlie: (So proud.)

Charlie: You need to wear your Nationals hat to school today, because it's going to be a nice day.
Henry: Ok, but you need to buy me a Redskins hat.
Charlie: Ok
Henry and I need a Gamecock hat and then I need an Orioles hat
Charlie: Ok, Henry, I'll buy you three hats.
Henry: Ok, Dad

I survived.

I'm pretty impressed that I am still standing this Monday morning after a weekend with two kids and a puppy.
Charlie had a boys weekend with our friends from college. He didn't go far but his help was certainly missed around the house.

Friday night he didn't leave until 8:30pm so he helped with Mary's bedtime. After they left, Henry and I snuggled in our bed and had a sleep over. We slept pretty good. Mary joined us in the morning. I delayed starting the day as long as I could because I knew it could be a tough one and not because of the kids but because of Maggie.

I was able to get both kids and the dog fed. After walking Maggie I let her run in the garage for a little bit. Henry is pretty much deathly afraid of her so she can't be in the family room with him there. Makes for a lot of fun with a barking dog on the other side of the gate. I noticed after awhile that it was really quite in the garage, I mean really quite. So I go look and I find this..........

Yes, that is an entire bag of bird seed spread all over the floor. That was fun to clean up while two kids are being crazy inside the house.

After that I tried to give Mary a nap, yes, tried. The nap was taken in three parts. Part 1 consisted of 20 minutes until she rolled over to her belly. Part 2 was about 10 minutes on her belly and then Part 3 was me throwing in the towel and leaving the house. In that span of 30 minutes, I showered, got H dressed, made beds, cleaned up and took the dog out. Yeah Mom, napping in your crib is for suckers.

Of course, guess who fell asleep as we backed out of the driveway.

Henry was happy because she was asleep and we needed to kill time so he got McDonald's for lunch. The kids were great while we did some grocery shopping.

We got home and I tried again to give Mary a nap. This time it was a no go. I did let her hang in the crib while I packed up the car to head over to Grandpa's house to see Aunt Deanie and the family. I assumed Mary would just fall asleep on our way over and she did. She fell asleep while Maggie made annoying noises for the entire trip. It was a good time.

The best part, Henry. I don't say that a lot these days because well, he is 3.5 and can be a terror but this car trip he was not. He did make me play Philip Phillips, "Home" the entire way. You areprobably wondering why, well that is because.... HE WAS SINGING ALONG!!! I about died. I kept trying to figure out if it was the song or him but it was so him. He loves the chorus and will do the AHH, AHH AHA and then the OOO, OOOO part. I had a smile from ear to ear.

God Bless, Aunte Deanie and Uncle Steve for taking us in that night. Julia and Henry played so that kept him occupied and the babies, well they were just being cute. I took Mary up around 6:15 because if you are counting she napped maybe 40 minutes total so she was pretty tired. She drank her bottle and put her down. In about 2 seconds she flipped over and was screaming. I decided to put her on her belly to sleep...after some but patting and sushing she was out and stayed that way until 7:15am the next morning. I guess she likes sleeping on her belly. I on the other hand was a nervous wreck and assumed she would wake up in the middle of the night, but bless her, she did not.

After breakfast we packed up and headed back home. We were having lunch with some friends. I wanted to get home so Mary could nap. I got home and got her to nap but of course that lasted 30 minutes. We had lunch and the kids played and I tried Mary again. At least this time she slept for almost two hours.

Then we got the text...they were playing a slow round of golf and it would probably be two more hours. That was like the kiss of death. I was exhausted by this point. I ended up laying on the floor in the play room while Henry played around me. I was too tired to do anything else.

I'm pretty sure I checked out the window every five minutes in hopes that Charlie would be home sooner than later. The boys did show up and my children were passed over to their father for lots of hugs and kisses.

It was a great weekend with the kids but I was very happy to have my other half back.

Seven Months

It' the 10th, which means Mary is SEVEN months old today....umm that also means we only have FIVE months until her 1st Birthday - EXCUSE ME? As you can tell, I'm a little in shock over this and just can't believe that we are already on the down hill side to being 1.

She has changed so much and is still the sweetest baby ever! Here are her stats and some pictures I took yesterday and today. I actually broke out the real camera.

My blogging is slacking

I think in two weeks I have posted twice. We have been so busy that it is hard for me to keep up.

Briefly, this is what we have been up too. My parents came for a visit. They stayed about a week. We shopped, we ate and we had fun. They left Friday morning, and Grandma arrived that night. We ate, we watched the opening ceremonies of the Olympics, we went to a water park/pool and bet on some horses out in Charlestown and Henty visited the Reston Zoo for the first time. After that Grandma, left on Thursday and Uncle Dave and the kids showed up late Friday night. Saturday we hit up Baltimore with them and then Sunday they left and we headed over to the 4H Fair.

During all this Henry relapsed with strep, good times, and Mary decided to get her bottom two teeth. She is now working on the top two and hopefully those will pop in soon. What else, what else....Ohh, I chopped my hair off, Mary went for her first ride in the swing, and Henry became addicted to Mario Kart.

Here is a boat load of pictures I have taken the past two/three weeks...Enjoy and hopefully I will be back blogging again soon.
