Window Pane Craft

This project was another idea I had in my head and I just needed all the parts to make it work. I was so excited when I saw someone selling the windowpane. I knew I wanted one in the mudroom but I wasn't sure where to get one. I had looked when we went antiquing but they never had any.

I didn't even need to paint or remove the glass for what I was going to do. This window was in perfect shape and even looked old.

I decided not to make it a chalk board but to make it a cork board. I had seen these sheets of designed cork at JoAnn's and I really wanted to use them. At the time I saw them I didn't have the window so I went back yesterday and picked them up. I also bought a roll of cork since the sheets of cork were very thin.

I then laid out the way I wanted the paper on the panes and got to cutting and gluing. I used the same adhesive spray glue, I used for the lego table. I sprayed the glue to the roll cork and on the glass, the cork above was self adhesive so I just peeled off the paper and stuck it down.

It was all very easy. The only thing I would recommend is maybe using more cork behind the decorative cork to make it thicker and hold the push pins in a little tighter but other then that it was easy fun and is going to look great in the mud room.

White Belt

In the  midst of packing, closing and moving, Henry earned his white belt last Friday. Here are some pictures from the graduation. We think we might continue but haven't decided yet. He did love it, so we shall see.

House Progress

We've been here less then a week and I'm impressed with all that we have gotten done. We have been busy emptying boxes like crazy, thanks to my parents and Grandpa and Gayle. There are still boxes but at least we have tackled most of them.

Here are some pictures of what has been done.

We are far from anything being complete but again I have to remind myself, it hasn't even been a week.

We also had the fence installed and I think Rudy might be the happiest dog on the planet. He just loves running and rolling in the grass out there.

I will update as we go along and show the progress of the house. As for now, we are just happy to be in and enjoying the space.

Easy Pinterest Project EVER.

No joke, took tops 2 minutes. Table is from Ikea. It is called the Lack side table and depending on the color you get depends on the price. I wanted red so that was $14.99, but grey that day was $3.99.

I then went to Toys R Us and bought the Lego squares. They ended costing more then the table at $5.99 a piece (same as Amazon). Bought some spray adhesive at Home Depot for around $4 and well, that's it.

I laid the pieces down and then picked them up one by one and sprayed them. I also sprayed the adhesive to the table and I was done.

We still have to attach the legs to the table but Henry was very excited to see it done. I think he said, finally. Yeah kid, I'm glad too, because it means we move in two days.

What you can get done.

It's amazing what you can done in an hour without your children.

This morning I had to drop the kids off at a friends because I had a second interview (more on that in a minute). After I dropped them off, I dropped off something I made for someone and picked up something at her house. Then I drove over and picked up some clothes for Mary. Then I ran an errand to the camp where Henry left his lunch box, I was able to stop by the post office and even pick up breakfast. This was all before the interview. Then after the interview I went to the library to bring them a DVD, I forgot to put in the case. So, let's say in two hours all that was accomplished. If I was toting two kids, yeah that would have taken two days.

Now, back to the second interview. I'm very excited to say that I will be working part time from home for a one lady company. I will be pretty much her right hand girl. It's only 10-12 hours a week to start but I see it increasing in the months to come. I won't start until September and I have Henry in kindergarten. She is very nice and was very accommodating with MY schedule. I'm really looking forward to working with her and watching her company grow.

I guess you can say, I also got a job in the two hours I was gone from the kids and that is pretty impressive too.

1/2 Birthday!

Today is Mary's 1/2 Birthday, yes we celebrated and no she has no idea what I am talking about. She was happy to eat donuts though.

Let's do a little update on what we are doing at 2 1/2......

She talks non stop
She is fully potty trained during the day
She loves Ariel and Anna
She still loves Minnie
Her favorite color is pink
She says everything is purple
She loves to sing
She loves to go to the pool
She has a great sense of humor
Falling and scraping her legs is common and doesn't bother her one bit
She loves all dogs
She skips most places we go
She wants to do everything Henry is doing - everything
She gives the best kisses and hugs
If people wave to her, she waves back and yells Hi - you better say Hi back or she keeps at it

She has her moments that any two year old has but in the end she is one of sweetest little girls.

Happy 1/2 Birthday, Mary!

I'm ready.

I'm going to guess that most of my readers will not like this post but here it goes.

I'M READY FOR FALL!

Fourth of July is over and well summer can move right along. Give me September, give me back to school, give me jeans and flats, I'm ready.

I would be lying if I said I haven't already picked out Mary's Halloween costume or started planning the Halloween party, because well, I have. This year it's an adults party. I figure I will flip them each year.  Theme to be revealed later but I am very, very excited.

I know summer has just started for most of you and I have enjoyed my time spent this season and we still have our big vacation to go, but in the end, I want Fall. I will still take the kids to the pool and we will still do summer activities but please note, I'm ready.

It took 8 years.

A few weeks ago we were at a wedding and we started talking about wedding pictures and Charlie said something that struck me. "Why, do you need all these pictures? I've only seen two from our wedding." I sat there and thought, wow, he is right. There is one we gave to the parents of us on the alter and then one of us in the Rolls Royce. I have an album but it's in a box because I don't want the kids to touch it.

I notice when I walk into people's houses that they have a few of their wedding pictures out or hung up. I don't know why I never hung pictures from our wedding, maybe because we didn't have wall space, or I just never got around to it, but that is going to change.  I'm not going to put up a life size portrait in the entry way but I am going to frame this picture because it's my favorite and it has meaning.

I contacted Kim (our wedding photographer, yes I keep in touch with her) last night at 11pm asking her if she had the photo. She went into her archives and found it for me.

Things in the picture remind me of that day...me holding my bouquet, you don't know, but I didn't have my bouquet when I walked out of the church and it still bothers me. The golf course is one of Charlie's favorite places. The veil is from a store I passed everyday in NYC when I worked on 7th Ave. The dress I bought with my mom, mother in law and sister in law. The kiss is of innocence. If you look in the black you see a flag its red/garnet, a symbol of where we met. When I see this, I see all that and I remember an amazing day with family and friends.

I'm not quite sure what wall this picture will go on in the house just yet, but I'm happy that Charlie said something about not seeing wedding pictures because this is going to be a great addition to our gallery.
