April 29, 2006.

Can you believe it, 7 years ago, I married my match. Not just any match, a perfect match. Yeah, we can be like oil and water some days but we know that and that is what makes it work. Most days he's my peanut butter to my jelly or my cream to my coffee (I'm trying to see how many cliche quotes I can use in one paragraph). We work and we work our way. We laugh daily, we fight often, we dance on the back deck, we solve problems, we still have the same love we had 14 years ago (anyone noticed the big difference) and like I said, it works.

Now it's time for an overload of pictures from that day. All photos (these are pics of the pictures) were taken by the amazing Kim Graham from Charleston, SC. The setting was Pawleys Island, SC and honestly it was the perfect setting for us.

I told you it was an over load of pictures but I don't think I have ever shared them before.

Happy Anniversary to my amazing husband, I love you and looking forward to many more!

It's Official...

We have a walker, a confirmed walker and frankly it is fabulous! I know people say wait until they start walking, you are going to have to chase them, but honestly it is great. You know why...because we have Henry and he chases her. He knows where she is at all times and just yells, "Mom, come get Mare Bear."

She is pretty happy with herself and just loves walking all over the house. It took us 15 months but that is pretty typical for Mary, she is on her own schedule.

Career Day

Have you ever asked a four year old what they want to be when they grow up? If you haven't, please do, because you can get some great answers. They range from Storm Troopers, fireman, ballerinas, princess and Henry's top choice...construction worker.

It was career day at school today and on Monday, he said Mom, "I want to be a construction worker when I grow up." We tried to get him to dress as a financial advisor like his dad, but he kept asking what that was.

So, this morning we got him dressed for school and off he went. Just as I expected there were two ballerinas, a tap dancer, a princess or two and Henry and his best friend Carter were the construction workers. They all looked so cute.

I remember telling my parents I wanted to be a waitress when  I grew up and I think we still have the picture I drew of the red and white checkered table cloth with flowers on it. I knew it was my calling ;) What did you want to be when you grew up?

Big Brother and Little Sister - doesn't get better than this.

Wow - in this last picture they look so much alike. I've never really seen it before but I do here.

Mary's New Seat

I'm brushing my teeth this morning and I look down to see Mary in her new seat.

She was very happy in there while we finished getting ready - just played with the hair brushes and talked to herself. She is no Henry at this age, she has zero fear. She is lucky that she is so darn cute, because she is going to give us a run for our money.

Opening Day Parade

Saturday, we had the Opening Day parade for Henry's liitle league team. He again was so excited. It wasn't like their were marching bands or floats, they just lined the kids up by team and had them walk into the baseball field.

You know what though, he didn't care, because why,  they got to run the bases. Seriously, that is all that matters. They marched in, stood and had a team picture, gave high fives and then there it was time to run the bases while the older kids cheered them on. It was the cutest thing.

Look for #8 in the video.

After they ran and got into place they sang the national anthem and did the little league pledge, gave out some awards and we were done. It was a lot of standing for the little ones, but they were all troopers. Here are some pictures.

How cute are these kids! That second picture he looks like a baseball player. He wanted to wear the wrist bands so he could wipe the sweat off of his face. Killed me.

All in all we all had fun and it was a good experience for Henry. We certainly will never forget his first opening day.

Play Ball!

Just call me Martha...

Well, maybe not Martha but I've certainly been cranking out the crafts recently. Today's easy craft is brought to you by Pinterest, and my friend Jessica, for showing it to me.

I needed something for Mary's hair bows and while I love the frames with the ribbon, we don't have a ton of those kind of bows, so I needed something else. Jessica sent me a pin using an oatmeal container and some card stock.

Went to Wegmans got their Oatmeal for maybe $2.99 and headed home. Emptied the oatmeal out and went to the craft desk. I found some chevron card stock left over and I rolled it around the container. I needed two pieces of card stock because my container was a little bit larger. I ended up taking the label off the container so I was able to glue on the cardboard. I glued the first piece and then lined up the second piece and glued it. Cut the paper at the bottom and folded it over, and that my friends is the whole project.

Here are the pictures of this 10 minute craft. The pedestal is just a small pink flower pot I had around the house. You can get them at the Dollar Store.

This whole project was less than $5.00 and I think it came out pretty cute. Anyone have a craft for that leftover oatmeal?

Happiest Kids Ever.

You saw my last post about how happy Henry was getting his uniform. Well, daycare just sent me these pictures of my little pumpkin!

If those don't make you smile, I don't know what will!

The Sand Gnats

The Sand Gnats - The Savannah Sand Gnats to be correct. That is the name of Henry's Blast ball team. He doesn't care that his logo is a gnat, he's just happy to have a hat and t-shirt and be on the team.

We had practice last night and at the end of practice, Coach gave out the uniforms. My kids face lit up, he was so excited to finally make it official. Hats were passed out first. He was beaming.

Then the shirts and at this age, the kids don't really care what number they get, they are just happy to get a number. Again, he was super excited. I do hope we can carry this number for a few years, because I kind of like it. He's #8. I don't know, seems like a good number.

This practice made Henry's day. He asked us if he could wear his uniform to school today, but we told him no. We did let him wear the hat, and he was so excited when I dropped him off this morning, he ran to his teacher and his friends to show them.

Saturday, we have our Opening Day parade. The kid might burst from excitement and I of course will be there taking pictures like the crazy mom that I am.

Here are some pictures from practice lasts night.

Kids Bathroom

After two years, I am finally getting around to painting and decorating the kids bathroom. I never knew how hard it would be to do a bathroom for a boy and a girl. It's hard finding stuff that is for both that is not a jungle.

I originally wanted bright colors or some kind of rainbow theme, but trying to find a shower curtain that is not a ton of money was not easy. So, instead of driving myself and my mom nuts, I caved on that idea and went with what I call, southern classic. Navy blue, hot pink, turquoise and whales.

The walls will be painted a grey, called requisite grey from Sherwin Williams. The paint has been bought, I just need someone to tape, so I can get to painting........

I did a navy and white stripped shower curtain from Target and the bathroom accessories were also from Target. That lantern in the middle was something I found at Marshalls and it's a good divide between the kids. The towels are for decoration and those are from Marshalls too.

Over the towel bar I am going to either buy or create a vinyl. I'm thinking this. I also purchased navy valances for our funky window up there.

My friend Jessica over at Two Little Birds, created this whale art for me. I am going to get two 11x14 frames to hang them over the toilet. You can't see it but we hid the kids initials in the picture, which I love.

I'm hoping this vision all works out. I can't wait to get this done and see it pulled together.
