How much can one handle?

I have always been told you are only given what you can handle. Well, I am must be able to handle a lot beacuse I am about to fall over from all of the weight.

Charlie and I have always tried to play by the rules. We live our life to the fullest and we do what is best for us and our family. Together we can handle a lot but today I am about to lose my handle on things.

It's setting in that we aren't closing next Wednesday due to this crappy real estate market and all its curve balls. By not closing next Wednesday that means no vacation without any worries. It means when we come home on the 13th we have to be closed by the 15th or we lose our new house. No stress there, it's only the house we have seen being built from the ground up, on our perfect little street in our cozy little neighborhood (yes, sarcasm).

Tomorrow movers show up to move out our stuff because, why not? It is the second time we booked them, we might as well have them come and haul most of it out. Tonight, we will be spending the night trying to wrap up the rest of the boxes so the move can go cleanly.

I could rant about my job but that will probably make me more mad. I will say, this place is nuts and I need to get out of here.

I know things could be so much worse and I should be happy that we have a healthy family, but maybe just once in the next couple months we can have something go smoothly?

Five Question Friday

1. If you could be a fly on any wall, which would you choose?
I would choose to be a fly on any wall where Justin Timberlake is - just so I could watch him all day!

2. Do you budget your Christmas shopping or just get it done without budgeting?

I start with a budget and then usually by the end I just keep shopping and buying too many things, which makes me go over budget. I do try!

3. What is the craziest fad diet you have ever done?

I've done the Atkins diet a few times. The first time was before the wedding and it really worked. Then after the wedding I started eating everything again and gained even more weight!

4. Is there a TV show that you have seen every episode/season of?

Probably the Cosby show

5. What one song always pulls at your heart?

Jackie Wilson's "Your Love Keeps Lifiting Me Higher". It pulls at my heart because it makes me happy. I shed happy tears when I hear it! Charlie sings the high parts which makes me laugh every time. This video is pretty funnny...

H A Double L O W DOUBLE E N - spells Halloween!!!

I am so excited about Halloween this year that I could eat a bag of candy corn! I have loved Halloween my entire life and now to celebrate with Henry, it makes it even better.

The other night I found the Halloween skit we did in Mrs. Ciesla's 2nd grade, The Littlest Pumpkin! Karen Gibson had the lead role of the girl and I was a pumpkin in the patch. I can still remember standing in the front of the class room doing the skit for our parents at the Halloween party.

A few weeks ago we got a flyer from Henry's school saying there was going to be a parade. I squeeled in delight. I have been waiting a long time for this parade. Charlie called me nuts but could sense my excitement. Then yesterday, there was a sign up for a party after the parade in Henry's room, I squeeled again! A parade and a party - what fun!

My mind was spinning of what I could make. I signed us up for treats but didn't write down what we would bring. I was thinking of spider web cupcakes and had it planned out in my head. Then I went back this morning and someone else was bringing cupcakes, darn it, I missed my chance!

I headed over to Target trying to figure out what else I could make. I came across these ghost baking cups. I thought I could do something with this. Well, then they showed Jell-O ghosts and I got all excited about making orange Jell-O ghosts! We may have made these in college, just with some other ingrediants ;) I aslo picked up a skeleton platter to display my ghosts on.

I just think Halloween is the best way to kick off the whole holiday season. It really brings out the child in everyone!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Henry's House

Yesterday, we headed over to the new house to see what was going on. When we came down the street, Henry started saying "Henry's house". It was the cutest thing! Then when we would ask him where is Henry's house he would say "Right there." This is a video of him saying "Right there."

This picture is of Henry waving from his room!

House Update

Today at lunch I met Charlie out at the new house. As I drove down the street I noticed we actually have shingles on our roof and they poured the side of our porch!

The street was busy with contractors and people were working everywhere. We were able to walk into the house. The outlets for cable were installed and so were all the bathroom tubs!

I love watching this house go up and I love that everytime we go out there, there is something new to see. The house across from us has sold and so has the one next to it. They look like they might be moving in, in the next month - lucky peeps!

I headed up to the model to try and get some decorating ideas. I want to do shower curtains that are 96" in the bathrooms and the model has them in all the baths. I think I might need to do a double rod to hang the curtain and then the liner. I just love the look that it gives the bathroom.

Next week we have our pre drywall meeting. The house is moving right along!

Mini Table and Chairs

Happy Friday, everyone!

Last night, Henry tried to catapult himself out of his portable high chair. It was an interesting way to say he did not want his veggies, but none the less it scared the crap out of me. We decided that maybe it was time for him to have his own table and chairs in the kitchen.

Grandpa and Gayle were on their way out to dinner and said they would look around to see what they could find. Two hours later they came home with a Little Tykes table. They said it was impossible to find one and they went to a few stores.

We took it out of the box and were not too thrilled with it. The chair backs seemed a little low and not very stable. We thought we will keep it for now and see if we can find something else. Henry did eat his breakfast at it this morning but the chairs kept sliding across the hardwood. Even Mickey joined him.

We have since ordered the Step 2 table and chairs and they should be here by Monday. The table is bigger and the chairs are taller. Seems like it will be a better fit for us and will last a little longer with a growing boy. I'll let you know what we think when it comes.

What set does everyone else have?

The Sweetest Thing

It's rainy and grey out so here is a cute story to make the day brighter....

Ever since we have gotten back from our little trip to Columbia, Henry has been attached to me. I guess he thinks that if he attachs to me, we won't leave him again.

Yesterday, after work I headed over to school to pick the little man up. As I am pulling into the parking lot, I noticed this little blonde hair kid standing by the fence of the playground. Then all of a sudden the little boy is jumping up and down. I realize that it is Henry and he is so excited to see me. I couldn't park the car fast enough before he started clapping, dancing and screaming "Mommy is here, Mommy is here!" I started to cry with excitement.

It is the little things in life that make it so sweet! I know tomorrow when I pick him up, I might not get the same greeting but I got it and it is something I will always remember.

It feels Right

In the last week, I have witnessed a house go from foundation to an actual house, the #1 college team in the country go down and my baby growing up!

First the house. We like to go out to the new house every week to see if there are any changes. We went out about two weeks ago and the foundation was poured and our frames were in the street. We had some crappy weather last week so we figured they probably didn't get much done. WRONG! We almost drove the car off the road when we showed up on Friday. There it was in front of us, a whole house with walls and cut outs for windows. It was amazing and it just felt right.

After visting the house we flew out to Columbia, SC. It was time for a little Parents Weekend back at college. The weather, the company and the game were all perfect, it just felt right. We go back every year just to have a good time, we always want to see the Gamecocks win and boy did we see them win. The Gamecocks ranked at #19 took down the #1 ranked Alabama. It was amazing! I am still on a high from us winning and still have Sandstorm going through my head.

When we arrived home yesterday morning there was this Big boy standing in front of me. I know it had only been two whole days since we saw him but he looked older, taller and chubbier. I picked him up and all he did was put his head on my shoulder for five minutes - he knew how to make his mama melt. To greet his Dad he knocked on the door and handed Charlie his sneaker. He said "Hi, Daddy - here shoe." Charlie just smiled and gave him a big hug. We missed him so much, but it just felt right to be back home with him.

Cox Farms

This past Sunday we took Henry to Cox Farms in Centreville. It was pricey but so much fun!

We remembered taking our niece Julia there when she was about the same age as Henry and she had a ton of fun so we thought why not! Check out this picture of Julia (circa 2007) at Cox Farms and then look below to see Henry's picture.

It was exactly like we remembered it...slides galore, animals everywhere, food, music and even a hay ride. Henry had a blast on everything. He was quiet on the hay ride but I think he was just taking it all in.

I have to admit Charlie and I probably had just as much fun as he did. Those slides were awesome!

Here are some pictures from our day on the farm.
