Way Back Wednesday - The Bagel Peddler

I don't usually partake in these but this one brings back some good memories for me. This weeks topic is your First Job.

My first job was probably baby sitting because my parents always said that we shouldn't have a "real" job until we could drive. So my first "real" job was working at the Bagel Peddler.

Ahh the Bagel Peddler. A cute little bagel shop on the Main Street in Somerville. I only worked there because Lauren "Bloomer", Megan and Andrea worked there. We had a blast. I think I started working there my Senior year in high school. The hours were great. After school until 4pm and then the weekends. The weekends were a dreaded shift if you had the 6am schedule but they went so fast because us girls had fun!

We also ate A LOT. My two favorite sandwich's to this day are from the Bagel Peddler. My own creation of tomato and munster cheese on an open faced salt bagel and the "Special".  The "Special" was your usual bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel - I think the price was $1.50. So gooooooooooooooood!

Our afternoons were basically us making muffins, emptying bagel bins and restocking the Snapple cooler. I remember fighting over the muffins because none of us EVER wanted to restock the cooler. I somehow always lost this fight and had to do it. To this day if I pull a warm Snapple, I get mad because I think some kid didn't stock it right.

I also remember food fights, bagel tosses, our friends eating for free, the dreaded lox and all the gossip.  It was definitely a fun time and a great first job! Lots of memories from that place that I will never forget. I don't think the deli is still under that name but I am pretty sure there is a bagel place still there.
