Play Ball!

Today marked the first day of what I'm sure will be a long road....Henry started baseball.

We went a few weeks ago and got all his gear. Imagine shopping for a cup for a four year old, you can't, well neither could I. We did find something that worked. We also got the white pants, red socks (that are way too big) and some cleats. He had a glove so we were good there. All this for a four year old to play blast ball. We aren't even at T-Ball level, yet.

Henry kept asking to wear his pants and oddly enough his new "underwear". We told him it was only a week or so away. He was getting pretty excited and kept asking to practice in the yard. Charlie of course did not deny the request.

The day finally came and he was ready. Dressed and ready.

Dad couldn't take him to the practice because he had another obligation (cough, something dorky, cough, cough). I know Charlie was heart broken he could not take him but it was what it was. So, H and I packed up and headed over to the field. His face lit up when he pulled. "Mom, do I get to play on the REAL field." "Yes, Henry, you do."

We practiced some basics and ran some drills. Then the best part for any four year old, they got to run the bases and sit in the dug out. You would have thought we were buying every Star Wars toy in TRU the way their faces were beaming. It was great to see then all so excited.

After a little talk from the trainer, it was time, it was time to run the bases. They were ready........

I'm pretty sure if we told Henry, that was it for baseball for the year he would be set. He got to run the bases. You don't realize how big a deal it is to them, until you see how excited they get. Even tonight at a party, Henry said something about being on the field and the little girl next to him was like "YOU WERE ON THE FIELD?????." It was so cute.

So our first practice is in the books, we ran the bases and we are ready for next week. The Nardiello Family: Play Ball!
