Back to Life, Back to Reality

This song keeps playing through my head now that vacation is over.

Henry and I had an awesome trip to Myrtle Beach. We went to the beach, we went to the arcade, we rode on rides and even did a little shopping.

On Thursday we took Henry down to the State Park for his first real ocean day. At first he was scared but then he warmed up and loved it. He kept yelling "Ma-new" and pointing at the ocean. We assume he meant water because the rest of the trip anytime he saw water, he said "Ma-new"

Henry also got to ride the rides over at the Family Kingdom Amusement park. As usual he loved the carousel. He also liked riding on the boats and the mini swings. He kept ringing the bell on the boat and saying weeeee on the swings. I was so happy that he loved riding on all the rides.

On Sunday before we headed back home, Henry had a photo shoot in Charleston. I had contacted our wedding photographer to take pictures of Henry. We have only seen three pictures so far and I am already in love with them. I will post them later when I have link.

While we were sad vacation was over we were very excited to see Charlie at the airport. Henry ran into his Daddy's arms. It was the perfect airport moment and end to our vacation.

Till I Write Again

Henry and I are leaving tomorrow for some fun in the sun! A little relaxation before the craziness begins around here in September.

The past few days have been crazy busy. On Sunday Charlie left for a work trip to Denver so it has just been me and the Digg. It was hard to say good bye to Charlie but I knew my little man would keep me busy. It did break my heart when Charlie said Goodbye to Henry because Henry just started hysterically crying. He was calm a few minutes later but it truly broke my heart. Here is a picture at breakfast before we dropped Charlie off.

Monday morning, Henry woke up extra early. He must know something is going on. He then came into our room and started saying "Daddy, Daddy?" and kept walking around looking for Charlie. He even peered into the bathroom looking for him. My heart was broken again.

That night Henry refused to eat, it was like he was on a hunger strike because his Daddy was not here. He basically went to bed without dinner and I felt so bad. I was able to get him to eat some banana but other then that, nothing. Again he woke up super early, this time I'm guessing it was because he was probably hungry.

Tonight Henry and I had a date at the local pizza place. It was only 5:15pm and we were the only ones eating dinner. A little strange but then a few more families came in. Henry had then all laughing and waving to him. He kept chanting pizza while we were eating. He was getting very animated about it. It was a wonderful date night.

Henry and I will miss Charlie on our trip and wish he was going to be with us, but our big vacation is creeping up and will be here before we know it.

P.S. The blog is getting a new design - look for it next week!

Five for Friday

Happy Friday, everyone!

Now that the inspection is done and things turned out okay, I can start dreaming about the new house. Here are my Top Five want/wish items:

1. This sectional couch from Crate and Barrel. I'm going to have to probably keep dreaming about this actual one, but I am hoping to find one similar and more in our price range. I also have to convince Charlie we need a chaise in the family room.

2. A new washer and dryer. We did not purchase the builders washer and dryer so we have to go and get our own. I'm actually quite excited about this. I can't decide if we want a front loading system or not.

3. A kitchen table is another item we need badly. Our current kitchen table is from my college days. It was just a plain wood table from Home Depot and its had its share of rough days. For the new table I want a two tone table, something like this.

4. New Bedding for our room. Charlie is not going to agree to this but I'm hoping I can find a great deal at our Pottery Barn outlet. I love this paisley print they have online now - it just came out so I am going to have to watch for a sale.

5. We always said when we got a bigger house we would get a bigger dog. I know it will happen someday and we are currently very happy with our animal situation so this wish/want is probably going to have to wait.....how can you resist this face!

Welcome to the 4th week of Toddler Talk Thursday! Family and Life in Las Vegas and Crazy about My Baybah are excited that My Life as a Sippy Cup Mom has joined in the hosting fun! (So excited, we heart her!) Toddler Talk Thursday was created as a place for moms and dads of toddlers to come together over a weekly topic and share ideas, go-to toys or products. Each week the topic will be different; we invite you to link up, and share your weekly Toddler Talk!!

This week’s topic is : Toddlers Favorite Toy(s)

Diggs favorite toy right now is anything Elmo. Elmo videos, Elmo books, his little stuffed Elmo, all the way to his Elmo back pack. We always said we would not be an Elmo family but here we are with Elmo coming out of our ears!

Another favorite toy is his Radio Flyer Coupe. Everyday when we get home - he points to the outside and says (insert Boston accent) "Car,Car." We usally take him for a spin down to the playground.

The swings are another huge hit in our house. Thank goodness the playground is just down the street. He never wants to get out and it is so cute becuase he will be in the swing going "Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee."

I guess you can consider these items toys. Henry is not really one to play with your regular everyday toddler toys. He would probably take a straw and a cup over a toy most days ;)

Busy, Busy, Busy.....

I have so many things running through my head that I don't even know where to start!

Traveling, Diggs on a plane, Family, Engagement parties, and houses.

Let's go back to last Thursday.....I was working from home that day and also doing a million other things. Trying to finish packing, clean up the house for the Open House, work, do laundry etc. Finally about 2:30pm I decide I better shower if I am ever going to get out of here and get Henry. Then, my phone rings - it's a realtor who says we will be there in 30 mins if that works for you. You can't say no because you want everyone to see your house.

I hang up the phone and just start running around the house. Suitcases aren't packed, I'm not showered, trash needs to go out, dog needs to be walked and it is raining. I basically just throw whatever I see in the suitcase and hope I got what we needed for our trip to Albany. I get Ellie in the car and carry out the last suitcase as they are walking into the house. Now I am sitting in the car at the pool eating Doritos because it was the last thing I grabbed. I'm hoping I will get a chance to go back into the house - WRONG. Another realtor calls and asks if they can come through in another 30 mins.

I never went back in and realized that I actually did pretty well packing and only a toothbrush was missed on my part.

Friday morning we are up and at em. Flight to Albany out of Baltimore. First flight for Henry since he was five months old. It went pretty well and he enjoyed the planes. We land in Albany and head to Chuck E Cheese to meet the rest of the family. While we are there I check my email and see that we got an offer on the house. An offer while we are at Chuck E Cheese - not sure I will ever forget that moment.

Here is a picture of Charlie countering the offer with our realtor:

Saturday we got up bright and early because we were off to Saratoga racetrack for the engagement party. As I am dressing Henry, Charlie comes in to tell me they accepted the counter offer. I about dropped my poor child. I was just not expecting everything to go that quickly. After jumping up and down and telling the family we are out the door and on our way to Saratoga.

Saratoga Racetrack was beautiful. I don't have any pictures of the actual track so you will just have to believe me.  Henry loved the horses and just running around all day. The engagement party was filled with lots of family and food. Some of our family actually won big at the track!

Sunday we did some visiting with more family. We even saw Great Nanny and Great Poppy.

After a visit with them we were back on the plane home, back to reality.

Wayback Wednesday - First Car

My first car was this beauty:

A 1986 Chevrolet Celebrity. At least I think it was from 1986. It was a box on wheels. I remember it being my Grandfather's and then my dad drove it and then it was given to me to use.  I swear the thing was indestructible.

This car took me on a first date, my boyfriend's Junior prom, trips to the shore and many many many other fun high school excursions.

For some reason I remember alternating between the Chevy and a Mercury Cougar:

I remember thinking that the Cougar was death on wheels. The breaks never worked and the tires didn't care too much for the rain. My father swore that this car was safe but to this day I still don't think so. My friends can tell you some stories from this car too. It was also a high school favorite!

Cuteness Overload

Henry is just getting cuter and cuter - I really love this age. Well I love the cuteness of this age, not the tantrums and the screaming, but they are all worth it.

Henry's new thing is when you pull out the camera he starts screaming CHEESE! It is just the cutest thing. I was able to catch it on camera, here.

He is also obsessed with Choo choo trains. We were at the mall the other day and he saw the train going round and round the mall. We thought he was going to explode from saying Choo Choo so many times. Next Friday we are headed to a kiddie park in Albany and they have a train there. We are afraid he might not ever get off.

Another cute thing he is doing when you sing Itsy Bitsy Spider he does the hand movements of the spider. I started singing it the other day in the car and I looked back and he was doing the spider walking up the spout. I about died from the cuteness!

Finally, his newest craze is Elmo or Melmo. When I pull out the dvd of Elmo he starts singing la la la la. If you know Elmo that is part of a song that he sings in the opening of his show. Even if you start singing the song, Henry will stop what he is doing and start dancing to it. We try not to play the DVD player in the car if we are just riding from daycare but it is a little hard when a cute blond kid is screaming in the back "MELMO, MELMO" and then when you put it on and he claps.

He makes everyday better with his smile and his laugh. A parent could not ask for anything more!

Wayback Wednesday - First Date

I actually have two good first date stories....

My real First Date is a good one. It was with an ex many many many years ago. It was his Birthday and Valentine's Day. He was going for his Driver's License test that day and he was hoping to pick me up to take me to dinner. I remember calling him when I got home from school to see when we were going and he sounded different. I finally was able to figure out what was wrong. Well, he failed the driving test and was embarassed to tell me that I had to drive or his parents had to take us. I ended up picking him and driving to dinner. We dated for about four years after that first date.

As for my first date with Charlie - this one involved a dinner, a car and a friend in jail...ahh college.

Charlie had promised to take me on a date after Spring Break that year. We got back and set it up. We ate at a restaurant in Columbia called Mangia Mangia. I remember being really nervous but also really excited. Dinner was great and we had a blast.

After dinner we went back to Charlie's apartment to get ready to go out with everyone for the night. We all headed downtown - again I drove, must be my thing on first dates. We went to our usual bars and had fun. Well after the bars close in Columbia sometimes there was something called a Crappy Hour. So, we got the address and piled into our car.

On our way, we see our friends Jared and Shana - so we stop to see if they want a ride. They tell us that they can't find our friend Josh, they hop in and we drive around looking for him. About two hours later we never made it to the party and I ended up going home. Charlie got a call later that our friend was in jail.  He got out the next morning and I think Charlie and I went on another date later that week.

Holy Rolly!

I just found out that I won a Baby City Jogger Select. This stroller is AMAZING! It can be used in 16 different positions. It is really going to come in handy when we have #2 someday!

Thank you CapitalKidz!!!

First Purchase

Happy Monday, everyone! The weekend was crazy fun, but I will have to get to that in another post because I have pictures that need to be uploaded.

We did make our first purchase for our make believe new house. I figured this purchase will be needed if we move or not so we went ahead and got it. This was a big moment for me because I purchased bedding for Henry's big boy bed. We have not moved him to the big boy bed and don't plan on it for a little while longer but there was a Pottery Barn Kids sale and I could not pass it up.

We bought him the Madras Quilted Bedding set from PBK.

I had been eyeing this set for awhile and was so happy to see it was on sale online.  Instead of ordering online I called our local store so I would not have to pay for shipping. I was in luck and they had it at the store. We picked it up Friday night and it was exactly what I imagine for my little boys room.

We did not get the train sheets that go with it because they were not on sale. I am going to have to keep an eye out for those online and at our outlet store. I just think the colors are perfect for any little boys room and you can do so much with this set.Of course Charlie was like why are we buying this now and where are we going to store it? I explained to him my reasons and he agreed.

For now I will just imagine and dream what Henry's new room will look like in our Make Believe house.
